Our Story
Laura Hawthorn Studios, is the team of Laura Hawthorn and her husband Michael Wright, which bring together over 40 years of experience in the design and build industry. Michael and Laura enjoy collaborating on projects for themselves and customers alike. They complement each other’s skills and understand the customer’s perspective very well, having worked on their own projects numerous times.
Both Laura and Michael have personally lived through the tragedy of losing their homes in wildfires and the subsequent challenges of recovering and completely rebuilding a home and life — from the pillars to pillows. They bring this personal side to each project and understand how important the small things can be in creating a home that feels not only luxurious but also lived in.
Laura Hawthorn Wright has over 20 years of interior design, furniture design and project management experience. Her career started in England, where she is originally from, with the complete renovation of a 3,500 sq ft, 500-year old home in North London. Next, she spent two years in Spain designing properties there and in Cyprus. Then, in 2012, she made the move to California and began work on a complete 6,500-sq ft rebuild in Malibu. The fully furnished property, which was purchased for $950,000 and sold for $10 million, was awarded Home of the Week by the LA Times.
Since then, Laura has expanded her portfolio to properties across Southern California and beyond.
Michael has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry and in construction and project management.
